I’m wondering whether an interactive software solution is the best way to learn a language over an audio only course. What do you think about learning a language using a audio only product such as Pimsleur or Learning Spanish Like Crazy? Are they effective?

Between the two of them, I would choose the interactive software. Most of your interative software includes pictures (which are very helpful) and real life situatiions and provided extra vocabulary . Most of these programs also include progress quizzes. Most of these software programs also put the language in a context that you can understand. The few audio programs I’ve listened to give you a phrase to listen translate and repeat. If you are building towards fluency, this is not the way to go.
There’s no harm in listening to an audio cd (it gives you a model of the language being spoken), but I wouldn’t rely on it solely.
Good Luck on your language learning!

and i want these audio books in mp3 as well as other format

I Love Chinese free online magazine. The parts of Easy | Pronunciation | Conversation | Characters | Grammar | Reading | Business | Listening | Culture | Travel maybe are suitable for you. You can download mp3 in ‘Chinese Pod Cast Mp3 Download’.
