I’m on the school newspaper staff (entertainment/gossip columnist), in Key Club (Secretary for two years), NHS, and in J.V. tennis (started this year). I have a 4.7 GPA (not including one AP course that I’m taking online). I have five AP’s total this year, and I took one last year (I got a 4 on the exam). I am ranked first in my class of 500, and I’m hoping to get a job at the local library as soon as I turn 16. I do community service in Key Club and NHS, and I speak three languages (Dari, English, and Spanish). I’m learning conversational French, and I want to major in either communications, economics, or English. I am planning on going to summer school at Stanford next year (this summer I took a couple of law classes and I starting learning French). I don’t play any instruments, but I am going to be in the school play in Winter. Oh yeah, I got an 1800 on my Practice PSAT (I am now a Junior, but I took it as a Sophomore). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!
This is pretty subjective since what I would suggest might not be anything close to what you would like. Check out www.petersons.com. On that site you can do searches for colleges based on many different variables including majors, size of school, where it’s located, type of social activities available and so on.
Now that I’ve said that, I’ll suggest that you look into small, private, liberal arts colleges. They might sound a bit pricey, but rest assured that they give out plenty of money in scholarships and grants and other financial aid, so they are more affordable than you might think. Liberal arts colleges can prepare you for anything and you get the individual attention from professors that can really help you flourish as a student and form connections that can help you as you begin your career. Also, I am assuming you are female based on your nickname and avatar, so I’ll also suggest that you consider women’s colleges. I know, I know….you’re thinking I’m crazy to suggest such a thing. BUT, don’t dismiss the possibility you might really like a single-sex school. Besides, boys aren’t stupid…they head right over to the women’s colleges when they’re looking for dates!

That list should at least get you started. Based on the details you gave, I think that probably many of these schools are easily within your reach. Some of them may be a slight stretch, but only you, your parents, and your guidance/college counselor can take a really good guess at the likelihood that you will be accepted. I swear, I’m serious. I heard that admission into NYU is worse than Harvard! That’s why I’m sincerely nervous! Sorry if it didn’t sound like it!!
Im an NYU Film student. I absolutely hate it there. Do yourself a favor ……………RUNNNNN from NYU!!!!!!!!! Theyre the worst corporation in the world. Stick with Columbia for sure.
