Has anyone used cd courses or computer courses like Rosetta stone and actually been able to learn the language well?
You won’t learn to speak Spanish "well" only from a course. Courses such as Rosetta Stone or Rocket Spanish work to give you a "base of knowledge" which wil act as a "foundation" for your learning of the language.
Rosetta Stone is aimed at taking you from a "newbie" who knows nearly nothing about the language to someone who can just about speak Spanish and hold a basic conversation.
Once you’ve reached this point (I.E, have learnt almost all of what a course will teach and are able to hold conversation) then it’s time to forget the course and concentrate on speaking with fluent Spanish speakers. This will give you both the confidence and ability to further your Spanish knowledge naturally.
You will learn a lot more from speaking to people in Spanish than you ever would with a course. Although you should refer to the course for help and information on what you don’t understand, you should try and build your knowledge yourself when you’re at the intermediate level.
Hope this helps?
